A special 120-page souvenir magazine has been published today to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the founding of the Tennis Europe Junior Tour.
With almost 450 annual events played across almost all 50 European nations, the Junior Tour offers a first taste of international competition to young players aged 12, 14 and 16 & Under, as the vast majority of today’s top professionals will attest.
The magazine includes in-depth interviews with former Junior Tour stars Casper Ruud and Elina Svitolina, who remember their time on the circuit and discuss the challenges of transition to professional tennis. Martina Hingis remembers the earliest days of the Tour, while Andy Murray shares fond memories of participating in its team competitions. Judy Murray also contributes, explaining the benefits of the Tour from the perspective of parents and coaches.
World #1 Novak Djokovic was among the first to send congratulations on the landmark anniversary, saying, “I have wonderful memories of playing on the Tennis Europe Junior Tour. Hopefully the Tour will last for another 30, 60 or 90 years. It’s essential that we all take care of this organisation, and that we are all aware of how important this platform is for young players.”
The magazine has been accompanied by a social media campaign throughout the year that saw stars including Roger Federer, Simona Halep, Stefanos Tsitsipas and Karolina Pliskova send messages to Tennis Europe, sharing their experiences on the Tour and advice for the current generation of Tennis Europe Junior Tour talents.
The magazine also features reports from some of the Tour’s key events, a year-by-year review of the Tour’s history and a detailed archive of all former European Champions in all age categories, plus other flagship events.
