Tennis Europe is taking part in ‘GreenTennis’, a pioneering three-year Erasmus+ initiative designed to create new practices aimed at reducing the environmental impact of the sport through the creation and implementation of new, more sustainable practices.
The collaborative project brings together a range of institutions, tennis organisations and creative thinktanks for the scheme, which will harness innovative tools and technology to promote environmental awareness for lasting changes across the entire tennis ecosystem.
The participants of the group met face-to-face for the first time at a workshop in Oslo, Norway, yesterday to distribute roles and tasks for the first phase of the project, which will focus on researching the current status of environmental sustainability in tennis, led by the prestitigous UCAM Catholic University of Murcia, Spain.
During the workshop, Tennis Europe Vice-President Cem Tinaz outlined the project’s broader objectives, while the European tennis community was also represented at the meeting by Petra Schmitt, General Secretary of the Hungarian Tennis Federation, and Berta Tintore, Secretary of the Centenary Tennis Clubs Association.
