The European Junior Championships kicked off with Tennis Europe’s biggest ever day of player education. Around 400 players of three age categories joined the special Junior School classes, which were held simultaneously at the competition’s three venues.
Among the topics covered at the sessions were introductions to:
- Nutrition
- Anti-Doping
- Mental Health
- Anti-Corruption
- Warm-Up & Recovery
The Junior School is devised to help prepare young players for life as professional athletes, and is endorsed by the sport’s governing body, the ITF, and the ATP and WTA Tours. Classes are held at selected Tennis Europe Junior Tour events throughout the season. The School’s multimedia resources are available free of charge for all players here.
Tennis Europe CEO Thomas Hammerl said, “We are very happy to have brought the Junior School to more top players in one day than ever before. It was fantastic to see so many players and coaches in attendance, and I’d like to thank the organising teams in Klosters, Most and Prerov for their efforts to host the School. Now it’s time for the players to move their focus back to the courts, and we’re looking forward to an exceptionally strong edition of the European Championships this week.”
