18:00 - KASINTSEVA & BAILLY: EUROPE'S 18&U CHAMPIONS
Over to Marco Keller for one final update from Klosters:
Victoria Jimenez Kasintseva and Gilles Bailly (pictured, below) have claimed the European 18 & Under titles, while Switzerland has won the Nations‘ Trophy of the 25th edition in Klosters with a total of four medals.
She couldn’t stop smiling. Victoria Jimenez Kasintseva was extremely happy after the match point and still in a great mood at the victory ceremony. “I am really happy that I have won this title for Andorra. It is a great end for my junior career.”, the number 154 in the WTA ranking and top-seed said in the on-court interview. Tennis successes for the small nation in the Pyrenees have been rare so far but Vicky has all the potential to put her country on the map for decades to come.
She faced Céline Naef in the final, who had improved continually throughout the week, but had double duties as she reached the final in both events. Playing only singles, Jimenez Kasintseva’s lighter schedule paid off: she eventually won 6-2, 6-3 and most spectators are convinced that both finalists have a promising future. “It reminds me of Andorra here, we also have many mountains”, Jimenez Kasintseva said.
Gilles Arnaud Bailly had been in splendid form since June when he advanced to the finals at Roland Garros. He maintained his level of play throughout the week and did not drop a set on the way to the title. On Sunday, he disposed comfortably of Dino Prizmic, the fourth-seeded Croat, who had eliminated top-seed Jakub Mensik in the semis. “I’m very happy with my level of play right now”, Bailly said.
Two Swiss silvers in doubles
The Swiss hopes for a gold medal vanished in the doubles. Mika Brunold & Kilian Feldbausch lost to Jakub Mensik & Jakub Nicod of the Czech Republic, while Karolina Kozakova & Céline Naef came short in the match tiebreak against Nikola Daubnerova & Nina Vargova of the Slovak Republic. With four medals - three silver and one bronze - Switzerland has been more successful than ever before. “I am really proud of our team, it was a fantastic week and I hope that the European Championships will remain in Klosters for many years to come”, Kai Stentenbach said, one of the two Swiss coaches alongside Michael Lammer.
Jan Kodes, guest of honor
Medals were presented at the victory ceremony by Jan Kodes. The Czech legend, a Wimbledon champion in 1973, a three-time major champion and a Hall of Fame inductee, was the guest of honour this weekend and he liked what he saw in the splendid setting of Klosters: “It’s beautiful and the level of play was very high”, he said.

European #1 Alena Kovackova (CZE) fought back from the loss of the first set to win 5-7 6-2 6-4 over Mia Pohankova (SVK), while Thijs Boogaard (NED) eased past Diego Dedura-Palomero (GER) 6-3 6-2 to secure the boys' title in Most. Both players now have the chance to two gold medals, as they compete in the doubles finals later today. Stay tuned...

At the 18 & Under Championships, top seed Victoria Jimenez Kasintseva (AND, pictured) and #3 Gilles Bailly (BEL) scored matching wins to secure the singles gold medals. Kasintseva dominated local hero Celine Naef 6-2 6-3, while Bailly beat Croatia's Dino Prizmic by the same score.
11:25 - SCHWAERZLER & RISTIC CLAIM 16&U TITLES
Fifth seed Joel Schwaerzler (AUT, pictured) and sixth seed Mia Ristic (SRB) are the new European 16 & Under Champions. Both scored straightforward victories on Sunday morning. Schwaerzler upset top seed Martin Landaluce of Spain 6-4 6-4, while Ristic beat another Spaniard, Marta Soriano, for the loss of just two games.
11:00 - JUNIOR MASTERS IN MONTE-CARLO - QUALIFIERS
The winner and runner-up of the 14 and 16 & Under Championships automatically qualify for a place at the season-ending Tour highlight, the Tennis Europe Junior Masters. Held at the iconic Monte-Carlo Country Club at the end of October, the event brings together the Top 6 players of the Race to Masters ranking, plus the standout European Junior Championships players.

With rain interrupting the doubles finals, Marco Keller reports on some high octane singles action in Klosters:
Jimenez Kasintseva wins high-level clash versus Fruhvirtova
The singles finals in Klosters feature mouthwatering ties. Victoria Jimenez Kasintseva of Andorra will face Swiss Céline Naef for the girls‘ gold, whereas Gilles Bailly of Belgium will play against Dino Primzic of Croatia on Sunday.
The numerous spectators in Klosters witnessed a match of the future in the semifinal. Victoria Jimenez Kasintseva and Czech prodigy b played a gruelling three-setter in the heat and convinced with big shot making and a fighting spirit to match. The number one seed from Andorra took the first set 6-3, but then her younger opponent, who had won a 25k event in Klosters some weeks ago, bounced back to claim the second 6-4 as the level kept rising. Neither player was willing to give in, but it was Jimenez Kasintseva who got the better end.
In the final, the left hander will square off against Céline Naef. The Swiss came atop Joelle Lilly Sophie Steur of Germany but the score of 6-2, 6-3 doesn’t reflect the match completely. The 17-year-old Swiss was more cold-blooded in the important occasions than the number 11 of the draw, and showed great fighting spirit once again, playing offensively. Naef is the proof that a tournament can’t be won in the first rounds, her start to the week was not convincing but her level of play has risen with each match since the round of 16.
Bailly beats home favorite Feldbausch
The Swiss hopes for a second place in the final ended in the first match of the day. Kilian Feldbausch, the number 2 seed, was beaten 6-4, 6-4 by Gilles Bailly (no 3), with the Belgian being a bit more consistent in the decisive moments. For him, it is yet another big success in a great year; he was runner-up at the Roland Garros junior tournament just two months ago.
His opponent in the showdown will be Dino Prizmic, the number 4 seed. The Croatian showed a clinical performance against top-seed Jakub Mensik of the Czech Republic and conceded only six games on his way to the final.
The singles finals will start simultaneously at 9.30 am, after which the rain-interrupted doubles finals will be finished. Czechs Jakub Mensik/Jakub Nicod lead the Swiss Mika Brunold/Kilian Feldbausch 6-3, 4-3, whereas the Slovaks Nikola Daubnerova/Nina Vargova had the better start versus the Swiss Karolina Kozakova/Céline Naef and lead 2-0, 40-15.
15:55 - KOVACKOVA & BOOGAARD AIM FOR 14&U GOLD MEDAL SWEEP
Alena Kovackova and Thijs Boogaard have kept alive their hopes of double gold medals by winning twice in Most on Saturday.
Kovackova had to suffer more for her singles win, eventually outgunning friend and Summer Cups team mate Laura Samsonova 4-6 6-4 6-4 after almost three hours of play to secure a spot in the final. She’ll next face Slovakia’s Mia Pohankova, who staged an impressive fightback to beat Spain’s Charo Esquiva Bañuls 3-6 6-0 6-3. The singles finalists later faced off in the doubles semi-final, where Kovackova was again successful. Teaming with Elisa Forejtkova, she wasted no time in beating Pohankova and Sona Depesova 6-1 6-0.
In the final, she will once again face Samsonova, who shook off the disappointment of her singles loss to team with Veronika Sekerkova. Despite a 1-6 first set loss, they recovered for a three set win over Romanians Maia Ilinca Burcescu & Giulia Safina Popa 1-6 6-4 (10-5).
Boogaard’s impressive run this week shows no sign of stopping, as the Les Petits As champion posted two comfortable wins. In his singles semi-final, the Dutch boy beat France’s Timeo Trufelli 6-1 6-1. Returning to the court shortly afterwards, he teamed up with Luka Nikolic to beat Aleksander Blus & Jan Sadzik of Poland 6-1 6-4. They’ll play home hopes Filip Kosarko & Jan Rastica for the gold medal, after the Czechs ended the run of Ukraine’s Nikita Bilozertsev & Pavel Bodnarchuk.
Boogaard’s singles final opponent will be unseeded Diego Dedura-Palomero. The German continued his string of upsets with a 6-3 6-1 win over fifth seeded Romanian Matei Todoran.
The singles finals will be played from 10am CET.
14:20 - SPANISH PLAYERS SAIL INTO 16&U FINALS
Spain will have a chance to win two gold medals in Prerov on Sunday after Martin Landaluce and Marta Soriano Santiago clinched their berths in the final earlier today. Landaluce ended the hopes of home player Jan Kumstat 7-6 6-4. Kumstat completes a sweep of medals, adding the bronze to the silver (singles) and gold (doubles) he won at last year's 14&U event. Landaluce, the European #1 and top seed, will next face Austrian Joel Schwaerzler, who upset second seeded Italian Federico Cina 6-2 7-5.
Soriano Santiago blitzed past Norway's Emily Sartz-Lunde for the loss of just two games to rach the girls' final. She faces sixth seeded Serb Mia Ristic next. Ristic put out 12th seed Lucie Urbanova (CZE) 6-3 6-4. Soriano and Ristic have faced each other once before on the Junior Tour, back in 2019, when Soriano won in straight sets in Alicante.
13:15 - HOME GOLD AS SLAMENIKOVA & SMEKALOVA CLAIM 16&U DOUBLES
Marie Slamenikova & Magdalena Smekalova have scored a sensational comeback to win the girls' doubles title in Prerov. Having lost the first set to eighth seeded Dutch pair Britt DuPree and her partner Rose Marie Nijkamp, the recent Wimbledon junior doubles champion, the Czechs levelled the match before reeling off 8 of the last nine points to recover from a 3-8 tie break deficit, eventually winning 5-7 6-3 (11-9).

If you can only see one match today (live streaming starts at 10am), we recommend the girls’ 18&U semi-final between top seed Victoria Jimenez Kasintseva (AND) and third seed Brenda Fruhvirtova (CZE). Widely touted as two future WTA stars, the pair are two of the most successful junior players of recent years. In 2020 Kasintseva became the first player from her country to win a Junior Grand Slam (at the Australian Open), while Brenda has already tasted success at professional level, becoming the youngest ITF women’s champion in six years with a victory in Argentina and recently winning a $25,000 event here in Klosters.
The pair have met once before on the Tennis Europe Junior Tour: at the European 14 & Under Championships in 2019. On that occasion Fruhvirtova won 6-4 7-5 in the fourth round. Their only other match took place in November last year in the semi-finals of the ITF Junior event in Merida (MEX). Fruhvirtova again won, but by the tight score of 6-2 4-6 6-4. Other than that, there is little to separate to the two players:

21:50 - SWISS ROMANCE WITH KLOSTERS CONTINUES
Marco Keller reports on a productive day for Swiss players at the 18 & Under Championships:
Switzerland‘s hosting of the European Junior Championships in Klosters has been a huge success story over the past 24 years. The home nation had won no less than 29 medals so far and therefore it was a goal to take number 30 this year, maybe even one or two more.
Nobody however would have expected that the total tally would rise to 33 this week. In fact, three medals had been the maximum in one year, in 2001 and 2018. But now, there is a new chapter to the story as the home players have guaranteed four medals so far.
On Friday, Kilian Feldbausch and Céline Naef both advanced to the singles semifinals and the doubles finals, partnering Mika Brunold and Karolina Kozakova, respectively. Both teams are seeded number two, and they will play the top-seeds for the ultimate prize: The Boys square off versus the guys from the Czech Republic, Jakub Mensik & Jakub Nicod, whereas the girls will face Nikola Daubnerova & Nina Vargov from Slovakia.
The most impressive player in the singles draw so far has been Kilian Feldbausch. On Friday, he made short work of Iliyan Radulov from Bulgaria, conceding only one game in a 6-1, 6-0 monologue. “I have been playing a little bit better every round”, the 16 year-old from Geneva said. Between him and a place in the final is Gilles Bailly, the third seed from Belgium. The other semifinal will be played between numbers 1 and 4, Jakub Mensik and Croatian Dino Prizmic.
On the girls’ side, local hope Céline Naef has improved with every match. After coming through tough three setters twice consecutively, she won against Ella McDonald from Great Britain 6-2, 6-4. What looks like a clear result, was a hard fight in the second set: Naef was 0-4 down before staging the comeback. Her semifinal opponent will be Joelle Steur, the number 11 seed from Germany. In the top-half of the draw, a mouth-watering clash between top-seed Victoria Jimenez Kasintseva from Andorra and Brenda Fruhvirtova (CZE/3) awaits the tennis fans.
Matches start at 10 am Central European Time on Saturday.
17:20 - 16 & UNDER DOUBLES FINALS SET IN PREROV
Germany’s Max Schoenhaus & Max Stenzer won a titanic battle over fifth seeded Spaniards Martin Landaluce & Rafael Segado Esteve, eventually advancing 6-4 6-7(5) 10-8. They’ll play the home favourites Petr Brunclik & Filip Hanzelin in the final. The Czechs beat Mak Mikovic & Ziga Svec of Slovenia 6-4 6-4.
The Czechs will have a chance to win gold in both events, with Marie Slamenikova & Magdalena Smekalova appearing in the girls’ final. The Czechs scored a straightforward 6-4 6-3 win over Ukraine’s Anastasiia Firman & Yeva Galiievska (pictured) on Friday and next face Dutch eighth seeds Britt Du Pree & Rose Marie Nijkamp, who lost one less game in their semi-final with Yoana Konstantinova & Katalina Petrova (BUL).

European 16 & Under #1 Martin Landaluce (ESP, pictured) advanced to the semi-finals after a swift 6-0 6-1 win over Race to Monte-Carlo leader Nicolai Budkov Kjaer (NOR). Kjaer had only lost twice on the Junior Tour this season, wrapping up four titles so far, but was no match for Landaluce, who is looking to become the first Spanish winner since Carlos Alcaraz in 2018.

Top seeded Czech Alena Kovackova (pictured) has been the star of the Junior Tour so far in 2022, winning 39 matches and losing just once. She’s accrued four 16 & Under titles and won two 14 & Under Super Category titles, and is ranked #1 in the Race to Monte-Carlo in both age categories. But today she faces an unusual opponent: someone that has beaten her twice already. Hannah Klugman of Great Britain has been in great form this week and is looking to go one better than her Les Petits As runner-up spot earlier in the season. Back in 2020 Klugman won both their matches comfortably, but will Kovackova show how dominant she has become?
At the 16 & Under event in Prerov (starting 09:30) top boys’ seed Martin Landaluce (ESP) takes on top Norwegian Nicolai Budkov Kjaer. The sixth seed is ranked #1 in the Race to Monte-Carlo and has established a 20/2 win-loss record on the Junior Tour this season.
Over in Klosters, the top four boys seeds are in action hoping to set up dream semi-finals. In the girls competition, third seed Brenda Fruhvirtova has already tasted some WTA success and would love to claim a second Klosters title, having won the ITF Women’s event here a few weeks ago. She faces Spain’s Ariana Geerlings who is on a hot streak, having won 20 of her last 21 matches on the ITF Junior Tour this season. That match kicks off at 09:30.

21:15 - AN OPEN FIELD IN KLOSTERS QUARTER FINALS
Time for our nightly report from our correspondent Marco Keller in Klosters:
On Friday, 12 of the 38 participating nations in Klosters will have players in the quarterfinals of the singles. Four federations still have two medal chances.
The number one-seed Victoria Jimenez Kasintseva (pictured) faced a stern test in the first set versus Amelia Waligora. The number 15 from Belgium got to the tiebreak and only lost narrowly 5-7. Then, Jimenez Kasintseva, the number 154 already in the WTA ranking, could keep the pace up, quickly escaped and never looked back. 6-0 was the harsh verdict.
On Friday, the player from Andorra will square up against Nikola Daubnerova, the number 5 seed. The Slovakian showed strong comeback skills versus German Carolina Kuhl, when she won the second set in the tiebreak, after having been down 0-5 in the beginning of the set.
In the other semifinal in the top half, Czech prodigy Brenda Fruhvirtova will be challenged by unseeded Spaniard Ariana Geerlings, who came atop 12th-seeded Denislava Glushkova of Bulgaria 6-4 in the decider.
The home crowd had plenty to cheer when Céline Naef, the fourth seed, won her second consecutive match in a decider. She overcame Italian Federica Urgesi, who couldn’t convert a 4-1 lead in the final set. Between Naef and a medal stands Ella McDonald from Great Britain. The quarters will be completed with the clash between Joelle Lilly Sophie Steur (GER/11) and Raquel Gonzalez Vilar (ESP/14).
The top 5 of the seedings have all made it to the quarters in the Boys draw. The main title favorite, Czech Jakub Mensik, will face Edas Butvilas from Lithuania (number 5), and would meet the winner of Dino Prizmic (CRO/4) and Alexander Blockx (BEL/12) in a potential semifinal. In the bottom half, Gilles Bailly (BEL/3) and Kilian Feldbausch (SUI/2) have the odds in their favor against unseeded Henrique Rocha from Portugal and Iliyan Radulov from Bulgaria.
Medal number 30 for Switzerland
The Swiss medal bonanza in Klosters also continues this year. Mika Brunold/Kilian Feldbausch have advanced with three straight-set wins to the semis in the doubles and are guaranteed a medal. It will be medal number 30 in the 25 editions in Klosters. Three more medal chances will come for the host nation.

There's been a trio of impressive wins by British girls this morning: Hannah Klugman continued her progress at the 14&U event in Most, ousting tenth seed Angelica Sara (ITA) 7-5 6-1. At the 16&U event in Prerov, Mingge Xu upset second seed Rose Marie Nijkamp 7-6(3) 6-3. And in Klosters Ella McDonald (pictured) has yet to lose a set, today beating Dimitra Pavlou (GRE) 6-1 6-2.

Some interesting clashes to note ahead of Day 4 at the European Championships…
In Most, European #2 Eliska Forejtkova (CZE) and British 14th seed Mika Stojsavljevic will be tired of each other by the end of the day. They have a singles fourth round match before teaming with Alena Kovackova and Hannah Klugman respectively for a blockbuster doubles.
Vito Antonio Darderi has yet to lose a set in singles or doubles, but faces a test against Yannick Alexandrescou (ROU), a winner of 3 Junior Tour titles so far this season. And top seed Ivan Ivanov (BUL) faces in-form German Diego Dedura-Palomero, who scored some impressive wins at last month’s Summer Cups.
In Prerov, European #1 Martin Landaluce (ESP) takes on rising star and 2021 Junior Masters champion Max Schoenhaus (GER).
In a battle between two players most recently in action on the grass courts of Junior Wimbledon, British 14th seed Mingge Xu faces #2 Rose Marie Nijkamp of Netherlands.

21:45 - FRUHVIRTOVA WINS BATTLE OF KLOSTERS CHAMPIONS
Over to Marco Keller for his round-up of the day's action at the 18&U Championships:
Teen prodigy Brenda Fruhvirtova continues her winning ways in Klosters. A month after her $25,000 title she has advanced to the round of 16 of the European Junior Championships with two straight-sets wins.
The Czech youngster won the title on the women’s tour in June without conceding a set. On Wednesday, the ITF junior world #5 faced a stern test versus Malwina Rowinska (ITF 107). The Polish player also had excellent memories, as she had won the Tennis Europe 14 & Under event back in 2018, beating Switzerland‘s hope Céline Naef in the final. Rowinska proved that she loves the country in 2019 when she came from qualifying to reach the final of her very first ITF event in Lucerne.
Until the middle of the first set, the match was level, then the bigger consistency and experience of Fruhvirtova prevailed. Rowinska made too many errors to seriously put the Czech into danger, but has showed once again in this tournament that she has the tools to do damage - also later on the WTA Tour. Fruhvirtova‘s next opponent will be Sarah van Ernst (ITF 228) from the Netherlands.
Top-seed Victoria Jimenez Kasintseva of Andorra only conceded one game to Melisa Senli (ITF 1122) of Turkey and will be tested on Thursday by Amelia Wilgora, the number 15 seed of Belgium. The upset of the day was created by Ella McDonald (ITF 75) from Great Briatin, who eliminated Kristyna Tomajkova of Czech Republic convincingly.
The highest-seed to bow out in the Boys draw was Peter Privara from Slovak Republic. The number 9 seed lost to Federico Bondioli (ITF 87) of Italy with the bizarre score of 6-0, 4-6, 0-6.
The host nation still has four players aiming for medals in singles. Kilian Feldbausch, Mika Brunold and Dylan Dietrich all advanced, as did Céline Naef.
20:15 - KUMSTAT CONTINUES QUEST
Jan Kumstat (pictured) already has two European Junior Championship medals to his name, having won silver in singles and gold in doubles at last year's 14 & Under event. The Czech scored another win today in his quest to secure more medals, beating Xabier Jakubovic (SVK) for the loss of just one game, 6-0 6-1. He next faces Lorenzo Angelini of Italy, who followed up yesterday's win over third seed Tomasz Berkieta with a 6-2 6-2 win over Gleb Sekachov (UKR) today.

Marco Keller reports on a busy day in Klosters:
The second day of the tournament in the Swiss mountains saw many gruelling battles despite the heat. In one of them, Amelie Smejkalova (ITF 90) from the Czech Republic prevailed against the Number 3 junior in the world, Sofia Costoulas. The 17-year-old eventually von 5-7, 7-6 (1), 6-4 and took a successful revenge for the defeat in Offenbach at the end of April, where she lost in three sets. For Costoulas, it was an unexpected setback after a great year so far: the Belgian had advanced to the final of the Australian Open and also taken four big titles: three at J1 level as well as the JA in Offenbach.
The start of the tournament was less problematic for the top-seed. Victoria Jimenez Kasintseva from Andorra, already the world #154 in the WTA rankings, was always in control versus Ioana Zvonaru (ITF 115) from Romania, who couldn’t get more than four games despite resisting fiercely. Jimenez Kasintseva‘s next opponent will be Melisa Senli (ITF 1122) from Turkey.
It wasn’t an easy day at the office for the best-ranked boy. Jakub Mensik (ITF 4) had to go the distance versus Yannik Kelm from Germany but finally advanced to the third round with a 6-3, 5-7, 6-3 win. His next opponent is Spaniard Joan Torres Espinosa (ITF 105).
The Swiss flag flew high once again: Seeds Mika Brunold (#8), Kilian Feldbausch (#2) and Céline Naef (#4) all won their openers comfortably and temporarily gave the home nation a 6-0 record over the tournament. Later, their first two players got eliminated, both recent Under 18 champions of Switzerland in Bern: Patrick Schön lost to Peter Benjamin Privara, the ninth seed from Slovakia, and Karolina Kozakova twice squandered a big lead versus Francesca Pace. The Italian prevailed in the sea-saw match 4-6, 7-5, 7-6 (2).

In extremely hot conditions, it's notable that just 3 of today's 34 main draw singles matches went to three sets in Most. A good start was key, and Timeo Trufelli (FRA) was the only player to win a singles match after having lost the first set (6-7 6-2 6-2 over Liam Channon of Great Britain)

2021 Junior Tour Player of the Year Tomasz Berkieta (POL) fell at the first hurdle of the 16&U event in Prerov, beaten 6-1 6-4 by Italy's Lorenzo Angelini. Aside from the earlier report, the only other seed to be upset on Tuesday was Austrian #8 Tamara Kostic, beaten 6-4 7-6 by Germany's Josy Daems. Full results.
17:55 - SMEJKALOVA OUSTS COSTOULAS IN KLOSTERS
Second seeded Belgian Sofia Costoulas suffered a sensational upset in her opening match at the European 18&U Championships. Amelie Smejkalova (CZE, pictured) recovered from the loss of the first to edge a tense second set tie break before clinching the win over the Junior world #3 in three sets, 5-7 7-6 6-4.
13:35 - CONTRASTING FORTUNES FOR JUNIOR MASTERS CHAMPIONS IN PREROV
There was a shock defeat for the 2021 16 & Under Junior Masters champion Marko Maksimovic (SRB), who retired while trailing 6-7 3-5 to Andreas Timini (CYP). The other reigning Junior Masters boys’ champion, 14&U winner Max Schoenhaus (GER, pictured), is through to the third round after beating Rodrigo Fernandes 6-0 2-6 6-3.
13:15 - CZECH FAVOURITES PROGRESS IN MOST
The Czech 14&U girls’ team swept to Summer Cups victory last month and the squad making up the top 4 seeds in Most, home players look set for more glory. The first three players on court this morning conceded a total of four games between them in the race to the third round.

Sad news from the 16&U event where top seed Tereza Valentova (pictured below, winning the 14&U Championship in 2021) has been forced to withdraw prior to her opening match this morning. The Czech had been hoping to join an elite group of players to have won European Junior Championship titles in multiple age categories. As a result of her withdrawal, Vittoria Paganetti (ITA) advances to the next round.

Tennis Europe President Ivo Kaderka (also the Czech Tennis Association President) is a busy man this week, visiting the opening ceremony in Most (pictured below) and will also call in on the closing of the event Prerov. He recalled visiting the European Championships as a boy when it was first staged in Prerov in 1978, when the tournament was won by none other than future world #1 Ivan Lendl.

20:55 - PERFECT START FOR SWITZERLAND

The host nation has started perfectly at the European Under 18 Championships in Klosters. All three Swiss singles players in action on Monday advanced to the next round.
It was a hot start to the 25th edition of the event at its home in Klosters. Meteorologically, but also because the heat was on in the matches. The first Swiss to take to Centre Court was Paula Cembranos (ITF 213), who is from the Kanton of Graubünden, where the tournament is held. The player from Arosa faced Suana Tucakovic (ITF 1174) from Bosnia & Herzegovina and the numerous spectators saw a tough and long battle. Cembranos, who had lost her first match in singles and doubles last year despite fighting hard in both competitions, eventually prevailed 7-5, 2-6 7-5. Her next opponent will either be Luca Udvardy, the #7 seed from Hungary, or Laura Hietaranta from Finland.
The nerves of the home crowd settled quicker in the next matches. Dylan Dietrich, the surprise quarterfinalist in 2021 and now the #13 seed, made quick work of Vladimir Holban (ITF 1027) of Greece, and won 6-1, 6-3. And Chelsea Fontenel (ITF 71), who has been practising in Florida for the past years, was the clear winner versus Tilde Stromqvist (ITF 225) from Sweden.
On Tuesday most of the top seeds will enter the competition, including top-seeded Victoria Jimenez Kasintseva of Andorra and Jakub Mensik of Czech Republic. The Swiss fans will turn up in strong numbers again as five more singles players are in action for the first time, amongst them high-seeded Kilian Feldbausch and Céline Naef.
19:20 - ELENA BERTEA SCORES THE DAY'S BIGGEST UPSET
A couple of upsets to report in the last matches of the day in Prerov. Elena Ruxandra Bertea (ROU) scored a memorable win over 16&U girls' third seed Renata Jamrichova (SVK), coming back from the cusp of defeat to win 3-6 7-6(6) 6-2. In the boys' competition, Swedish twelfth seed William Rejchtman Vinciguerra went down 6-4 7-6(1) to Chris Spyrou of Greece.

Playing on the Tennis Europe Junior Tour for the first time since winning the 14&U Junior Masters title in Monte-Carlo last October, Max Schoenhaus (GER) eased past Britain's Viktor Frydrych 6-3 6-3 in the first round in Prerov. Girls' second seed Rose-Marie Nijkamp (NED) is also through. Last seen winning the Wimbledon Junior Doubles title, she beat Ana Mitevska (MKD) 6-1 6-4 to advance. The doubles draws from Prerov are also now online, with play commencing tomorrow.
15:30 - SMEKALOVA UPSETS STANKIEWICZ
Last year's Junior Masters runner-up Monika Stankiewicz is the first seeded casualty at the European 16&U Championships. Magdelana Smekalova (CZE) made the most of playing at home to outlast the Pole 6-0 3-6 6-2.
13:55 - DOUBLES DRAWS
The doubles draws from Most (14&U) and Klosters (18&U) are now online and available at the links above. The first doubles matches have been scheduled in Klosters this afternoon, not before 4pm.
12:10 - EARLY RESULTS
The first results are through from Most and Prerov, where the higher ranked players have mostly recorded easy wins. Two of the players to have just missed out on seeding at the 14&U event in Most, 25th ranked Valentin Gonzalez-Galino (ESP) and 26th-ranked Diego Dedura-Palomero (GER) eased through, winning 6-3 6-1 and 6-1 6-0 respectively. Playing just his second Tennis Europe Junior Tour event, Leonardo Ljubicic (MON), son of Ivan, is also through thanks to a 6-2 6-2 win over Aleksandre Chelidze (GEO).

18:15 - JUBILEE EDITION IN KLOSTERS OPENS IN STYLE
Our correspondent Marco Keller sends the first of his daily updates from the 18 & Under Championships:
The 25th edition of the European Junior Championships in Klosters has seen a spectacular opening ceremony. The breathtaking setting on the Madrisa mountain gave plenty of inspiration for the athletes.
All the teams lined up in alphabetical order and walked around the small lake almost 2000 metres above sea level. They were applauded by a nice crowd and took pictures that will forever remind them of this day.
Tennis Europe CEO Thomas Hammerl declared the Championships officially open and extended his thanks to the two most important people in the history of the event in Klosters: Liane Alban and Hans Markutt, both of whom have been majorly involved in the event since day one and whose work has led to it being one of the highlights in the calendar.
On Monday, the tournament will start with 38 matches in singles before the doubles competition also gets underway in the afternoon. Plenty of aspiring stars will compete for the coveted prizes with Victoria Jimenez Kasintseva from Andorra and Jakub Mensik from the Czech Republic being the top-seeds.
Switzerland has most often made best use of the home advantage. The host nation has amassed 29 medals in 24 years and has big chances of being successful again. The biggest hopes lie on the shoulders of Kilian Feldbausch and Céline Naef, seeded number 2 and 4, respectively.
