ITF World Tennis Tour
The structure of professional tennis is changing in 2019, when the ITF introduces the new ITF World Tennis Tour, aimed at improving the pathway linking the ITF Junior Circuit with the professional tour and ensuring that prize money levels in professional events are sufficient to enable more players to earn a living from the sport.
The changes include a raft of new measures developed by the ITF in collaboration with the ATP and WTA intended to boost the worldwide tournament structure. More National Associations will be able to stage events as a result of reduced costs of hosting tournaments; events will be shorter in length than existing Pro Circuit tournaments and have lower officiating requirements.
The new events will offer $15,000 in prize money and replace the existing $15,000 men’s and women’s tournaments on the ITF Pro Circuit in 2019. These events will award ITF Entry Points instead of ATP and WTA ranking points. Tournaments over these prize money levels will offer WTA points, ATP points or a combination of ATP and ITF Entry Points.
Further information will be shared as it becomes available. For a full explanation, please watch the video below, or read the FAQs.
